Intel launched its e3-1230 processor chip for use in dedicated servers starting in the second quarter of 2011. Sometimes referred to as a SandyBridge processor, it is part of the Xeon series of computer chips and features four cores and eight threads operating at 3.2 GHz with 8 MB of cache.
