When you choose CentOS as the operating system for your dedicated server it will be deployed with the latest stable version of CentOS installed, including software packages. It is important to remember that software packages update frequently, and because of that we always recommend that as part of your regular server Administration you regularly run the YUM command. YUM will automatically download and install any available updates for the software packages that are running in your CentOS operating system, including programs such as: Ruby, Python, PHP, Perl, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and more.
